There is never a good reason to mistreat, hurt, or abandon animals. Sometimes, folks believe they have no choice but to abandon their dog out of desperation. However, occasionally, humans are blatantly callous and abandon their animals to suffer and pass away.
Unfortunately, one pup was discovered in a terrible state after being abandoned, tied to a tree, with punctures in his neck and marker-colored marks all over his body.
In Queensland, Australia, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is looking into a report of animal abuse and is trying to identify the perpetrator.
On Facebook, the RSPCA posted about the event and requested assistance from the public.
Apparently, a "large tan male Mastiff cross was found tied to a tree with puncture injuries to his neck and marker drawings covering his body." An RSPCA Inspector found the dog on September 20, 2022, and saved it.
The dog was taken to a vet to receive treatment, but his tale didn't end there. The RSPCA is trying to figure out what happened and identify the person who left the dog in such bad shape.
The RSPCA reported on September 29, 2022, that "investigations have not yet established who the owner of this dog is or how the dog came to be injured and abandoned."
RSPCA of Queensland spokeswoman Emma Lagoon stated in the post:
"We need to put a stop to this kind of animal neglect and abandonment. It is absolutely not acceptable to leave a hurt dog chained to a tree. Regarding the markings, it's just plain rude. As you might imagine, the poor puppy is pretty frightened and is currently receiving all the attention he needs to hopefully overcome his ordeal and recover completely."
It is strongly advised that anyone with information on the dog call the RSPCA's 24-hour emergency hotline at 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625).
This dog shouldn't have been treated this way at all.
